The Director of Revenue Cycle is for providing leadership to the billing department to ensure optimal cash flow, as well as improved relations with physicians, patients, and other customers.

Essential Functions

Supervise the billing department operations; perform duties such as charge entry, payment posting, reimbursement management, insurance verification, claim submissions, accounts receivable follow-up, and pre-certification of services
Stay informed on current healthcare changes related to the revenue cycle including insurance/coding/collections over a wide variety of payers and communicate effectively to the appropriate billing staff
Carry out audits of current procedures and processes; discover billing operations areas to improve on and effect the necessary actions
Ensure quality and appropriate trainings are provided to newly hired and existing billing staff through effect supervision and coordination of the training process, and by adhering to established company operating policies, procedures and systems, protocols, techniques, and standards
Coordinate time away requests of team members to ensure the daily functions of the department is not negatively affected
Carry out analysis of trends affecting pre-certifications, coding, charges, accounts receivable, and collection, and assign manageable tasks to billing staff
Collaborate with other departments to receive and analyze additional information about patients to be able to record and process billing effectively
Remain updated on HIPAA and all other health information management issues and regulations
Other duties as assigned

Work Environment

Work is performed in a clinical environment. Involves frequent personal and telephone contact with patients, physicians, and other healthcare personnel. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. It is possible work may involve interaction with injured or sick patients.

Role Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have reliable transportation
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Digital literacy

Preferred Experience Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of revenue cycle experience preferred.

Minimum Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in related field.
Master's degree preferred.

Required Skills

Ability to analyze situations and solve problems
Deep knowledge and understanding of the revenue cycle
Maintains composure and operates with emotional intelligence
Thorough knowledge and experience of CPT and ICD10 codes
Knowledge of rules and regulations affecting pre-certification, medical billing, and insurance verification
Receptive and responsive to feedback
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Time management, prioritization, and sense of urgency

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, and to work both day/evening shifts. Work may hand dexterity as well as the need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
