We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
West Lothian Council is committed to making significant changes in the way we deliver our Education Services. These include providing support and an environment that enables staff to excel and develop their skills. Our commitment is demonstrated by achieving the Investors in People Standard and continuously striving for higher standards in service delivery and improvement.
The new Hawkhill Primary School in Winchburgh will provide non-denominational education for up to 231 primary pupils when it opens in August 2025, and for up to 42 nursery children when the nursery is established in future years. The school is designed to accommodate increasing demand in the growing Winchburgh Core Development Area, which will see significant new housing over the next ten years.
The school will have a flexible design to allow for future expansion if needed. The site was identified in the 2018 West Lothian Local Development Plan and is located on the eastern edge of Winchburgh, within a new housing community as outlined in the masterplan.
The design of the state-of-the-art school incorporates elements from the award-winning Calderwood Primary School, emphasizing innovation and flexibility. It is a contemporary two-storey building with adaptable learning spaces, including traditional classrooms, some without doors, and open-plan areas. Features such as flexible furniture, double-height glazing, and vibrant use of colour create a bright, lively environment that staff and pupils can personalize.
Hawkhill Primary School will be part of the Winchburgh cluster, which includes Winchburgh Primary School. The cluster maintains strong collaborative relationships and effective transition arrangements with Winchburgh Academy.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to support the breakfast club and lunch period provisions.
