Background:
Kingston Carers’ Network is a charity that supports carers in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. A carer is someone who is providing support, unpaid, to a friend or family member who has a physical illness, disability, mental health or substance misuse issue.
This volunteer role is ideal for someone with an interest in social care, social work, or casework support. The volunteer will work closely with the Adult Carers Support Team to assist with a variety of administrative and support tasks that are vital to helping carers in the local community.
Details:
We are looking for a volunteer who is willing to volunteer in the office on a weekly on Tuesdays (half or full days). This is an ongoing role with a minimum 3-month commitment preferred. Our office address is Kingston Carers’ Network Office, 418 Ewell Road, Tolworth, KT6 7HF
Key responsibilities:
·Making phone calls to carers to check in, confirm appointments, or gather information
·Photocopying and printing documents for casework or meetings
·Attending and supporting team meetings (e.g., helping to take minutes)
·Assisting with setting appointments and maintaining schedules
· Carrying out research on behalf of the team on local services available to carers to signpost
·Uploading and updating carers’ details on our database
·Sending emails to carers with information, resources, or appointment confirmations
·Supporting the team with general administrative duties as needed

Skills and attributes required:
·Good verbal and written communication skills
·Comfortable using the phone and speaking with a range of people
·Organised and reliable, with good attention to detail
·Basic IT skills (e.g., email, Microsoft Word, database entry)
·An interest in social care, social work, or community support
·A friendly, respectful, and professional manner
Additional Information:
·A basic DBS check is required
·Training will be provided, including an induction to Kingston Carers’ Network
·Volunteers must always maintain confidentiality
