Gensler’s Birmingham office is seeking an Interior Designer to join our team of design thinkers and doers who specialise in helping to tell stories and create experiences in the context of the workplace and corporate environments, while working on a variety of projects within the professional services sector. You will be experienced in handling the client process, with excellent presentation and relationship-building skills, and the ability to understand and interpret client needs and requirements.
A self-motivated team player with a positive, communicative, and collaborative approach, you will work in partnership with colleagues across Gensler’s practice areas, as well as with vendors and stakeholders at all levels. You will have the knowledge and ability to provide guidance to less experienced members of the Interiors Team, advising and supporting where necessary.
What You Will Do
As an Interior Designer, you will tap into your creativity to design unique professional environments, providing design support for the completion and execution of projects across all design stages. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Contributing to all project phases: strategy, test fits, schematic plans, conceptual designs, design development, and collaboration with multiple disciplines.
2. Producing graphic presentations, including 3D renderings, for client presentations.
3. Preparing construction documents, including plans, elevations, details, and specifications.
4. Managing team and client communication.
5. Collaborating with consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies, and vendors to achieve project objectives.
6. Contributing to office culture, initiatives, mentorship, and talent development.
7. Supporting Principals in developing client, contractor, and team communications, and maintaining strong relationships.
Your Qualifications and Experience
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited school.
2. Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience in Corporate/Workplace Interior Design, through all stages of design and development.
3. Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is essential.
4. Strong presentation and client relation skills.
5. Excellent graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas.
6. Good collaboration skills, self-organization, and ability to work in a team environment.
7. Understanding of FF&E, color, and material specifications and development.
