The right candidate will be someone who has the essential health and safety qualifications, or who can demonstrate a commitment to achieve these once in post. We would welcome internal and external applications and would like to see interest from those with some clinical experience of working in mental health services.

The post holder will be working across the Trust to consolidate and improve the Safety Management System.

Main duties of the job

The Trust is seeking to recruit an innovative and effective individual to the Health and Safety Adviser post within the multidisciplinary Risk Management Team, with Links to the Patient Safety and Patient Experience.

The successful candidate will be qualified to an NVQ Level 3 standard and work towards achieving NVQ Level 5 and Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Membership.

The candidate will promote good health & safety risk management practices within all clinical and non-clinical environments; provide expert advice and assistance in assessing health and safety risks relating to staff, patients and any other persons affected by the Trust; and design and deliver suitable training programmes that meet the service needs.

The post holder will provide regular updates and written reports on agreed key performance indicators related to service monitoring and improvement (e.g. RIDDOR reports, incident reports etc.).

They must have excellent interpersonal skills and be confident in engaging with Senior Management Teams and staff across the Trust and with external stakeholders such as CQC and the HSE.
