Our client, a global leader in data centre solutions, is seeking an experienced HV Authorised Shift Engineer to join their high‐performing team in Slough.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a mission‑critical data centre environment, supporting high‑profile banking and enterprise clients. You will play a key role in maintaining operational resilience, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance across critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
Role Overview
As part of the on‑site engineering team, you will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and fault response of high‑voltage systems and associated plant equipment.
Working a structured continental shift pattern, you will help safeguard uptime in a high‑stakes, zero‑tolerance environment, where precision, accountability, and technical expertise are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical & Critical Systems
* Operate and maintain HV electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, and standby generators
* Fault‑find and manage single‑phase and three‑phase distribution systems
* Carry out safe switching operations in line with approved procedures and Authorised Person responsibilities
Mechanical & Building Services Support
* Maintain VRV systems and associated mechanical plant as required
* Support the upkeep of critical infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and resilience
Compliance & Operational Excellence
* Work safely and effectively within a continental shift pattern (6 on / 4 off, days and nights)
* Ensure full compliance with site policies, health & safety legislation, and client standards
* Respond promptly to incidents, alarms, and system faults within a data centre or banking environment
Candidate Requirements
* HV Authorisation (essential)
* Proven experience within data centres or critical banking facilities
* Strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in mission‑critical environments
* Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team
* Calm, decisive, and safety‑focused under pressure
* Professional, flexible, and reliable approach to shift‑based work
