We are looking for someone with the passion and presence to bring Spark Northumberland to life across the county.
This is a part-time role, one day a week, with the potential to make a real impact on young people, schools and employers across Northumberland.
About Connect Northumberland
Connect Northumberland exists to make Northumberland a better place to live and work, for today and tomorrow. We are an employer-led, not-for-profit organisation working to create a larger and more capable Northumberland workforce, increasing prosperity through a vibrant employer community.
We work with over 70 of the county's most active employers across three areas: young people, workforce development and the employer community. Powered by the Royal Academy of Engineering, Northumberland County Council and Tharsus in Blyth (where we have an office), everything we do is rooted in making a real and lasting difference for people and businesses across the county.
We are a small, ambitious team doing meaningful work on big challenges. No two days are the same and every day you are working on something that genuinely matters for Northumberland's future.
About Spark Northumberland
Northumberland's children deserve to see the opportunities that exist right on their doorstep. Too many grow up without that visibility, and we are on a mission to change it. Spark Northumberland is a curriculum-led careers platform that puts local employers directly into primary classrooms across the county. Real people. Real jobs. Real Northumberland. Through short videos filmed with local businesses and mapped to what children are already learning in class, teachers can bring the world of work into their lessons in a way that is meaningful, local and relevant. This is not a nice-to-have. For a county facing real workforce challenges, getting children excited about what is possible here, early, is one of the most important things we can do.
What you'll do:
You will be out across the county, in front of headteachers and trust boards, in schools and at events, representing a project you genuinely believe in.
Some of the things you will do:
* Attend and present at headteacher cluster meetings and trust board presentations, using Connect Northumberland's existing partnerships to recruit schools onto the programme
* Lead employer recruitment, using our network to identify and engage the right businesses and get them on the platform
* Be the main point of contact for onboarded schools, building and maintaining those relationships throughout
* Coordinate teacher training with our delivery partner Spark, with the Connect Northumberland team supporting logistics
* Collect impact data and feedback from schools and employers to support reporting
* Keep Spark Northumberland visible in Connect Northumberland's monthly member communications
We'd love you to have:
* A genuine passion for education and what greater career visibility can do for young people in Northumberland
* The confidence to walk into a room, tell a compelling story and bring people on board
* Strong relationship management skills, comfortable holding multiple contacts and keeping them warm
* Experience in or around primary schools, whether as a teacher, a teaching assistant or someone who has worked closely with schools
* The ability to manage a varied workload independently within limited hours per week
* Excitement about coordinating a project that has real impact on our county
In return you will get:
To be part of something that genuinely matters. Spark Northumberland has the potential to change what every primary school child in the county believes is possible for them and this role puts you at the heart of that from its earliest stage.
* A flexible part-time role starting at 1 day per week with scope to grow as the programme scales
* The chance to build deep, lasting relationships across Northumberland's school and employer community
* Work rooted in social purpose, supporting the county's children to see their future here
* Full support from the Connect Northumberland team on events, logistics and reporting so you can focus on what you do best
* A place in a small, ambitious team where your contribution is visible and genuinely valued
The detail:
* Contract: Fixed term June 2026 to March 2027, extended subject to funding and programme growth
* Hours: 1 day per week (8 hours)
* Salary: £37,000 FTE. 1 day per week = £7,400 per year
* Location: Flexible, home and Connect Northumberland office in Blyth, with regular travel across Northumberland
* Requirements: Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK
Closing date: 22nd May – we will be in touch after this date.
