Are you ready to be involved in inspiring and positively transforming the lives of our children and young people? Pebbles are actively recruiting for a part-time Therapeutic Practitioner to join us on a twelve-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. You will be joining our established Psychology team, working across a cluster of homes in the North of England. Your Role This role is to support our homes across St. Helens and East Lancashire. It will involve regular travel to homes and meetings as required, along with some remote working from home. The overall purpose of the role of a Therapeutic Practitioner/ Therapist within the Psychology Team at Pebbles Care is to support the emotional and well-being needs of the children in our care. You will undertake attachment and trauma-informed assessment, formulation and intervention, including therapeutic parenting, for residential childcare and education staff. You will work closely with care and education teams to embed trauma and attachment-informed understanding of the needs of the children. The Therapeutic Practitioner will work under the direct supervision of the Head of Psychology. There will also be opportunities to assist in practice development and service development initiatives to ensure continual quality improvement and clinical governance. As a Therapeutic Practitioner/Therapist, you will play an essential role in delivering a needs-led service, helping to ensure that vulnerable children benefit from the best possible outcomes. Your key responsibilities include: Undertake therapeutic assessment and formulation of children and young people to aid the development of care planning and risk management planning. Provide support for staff teams to undertake specific therapeutic interventions with children and young people (e.g. emotional regulation work, developing healthy relationships, managing sexually harmful behaviour, psychoeducation on trauma, etc). Observe and undertake psychometric and other clinical/forensic assessments. Undertake direct therapeutic psychoeducation work with children and young people or if a qualified therapist, direct therapy with the children and young people. Undertake trauma-informed consultations with residential and educational practitioners within your area, with an emphasis on attachment theory and trauma-informed practice. Attend relevant professional meetings to support staff teams and the children and young people as required. Undertake research/audit on factors relevant for demonstrating effective therapeutic residential childcare (e.g., offending behaviour, exploitation, compassion fatigue, placement stability, etc). Work within own competencies and undertake observations of new tasks as well as CPD and supervision. Support the commissioning team and registered managers in matching children to placements. Responding proactively to ensure transparency and support for the children in our care. Embedding a trauma-informed approach that recognises the impact of ACEs on a child’s mental health. Deliver relevant training to our care teams who work with our children. To provide information for the stakeholders and investors on performance and outputs Keep up to date with developments in theory and research, and undertake continuing professional development (CPD) Essential For the therapeutic practitioner, a Degree in Psychology or a related health and social care subject For the therapist, a qualification and membership of a relevant governing body (e.g. BACP/UKCP) Further academic study and/or training in a relevant psychological discipline (desirable). Have a good understanding of attachment theory and trauma, and be able to apply these to practice. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to work within a team, motivated and able to work independently A valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel Desirable Able to work within a team, motivated, and able to work independently Further academic and/or training in a relevant psychological/therapeutic discipline What we can offer you, A salary of £28,000 to £33,000 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience. 28 days holiday per annum, pro rata Auto-enrolment into our salary sacrifice pension scheme with Scottish Widows Cash back healthcare plan Death in service benefit Continuous Professional Development, depending on your own professional goals, in relation to looked-after young people/child and adolescent development The opportunity to undertake various psychological assessments, including scoring, interpretation and report writing. A well-established and highly experienced team to support and mentor you. Your work hours are 16 per week, to be negotiated between 8:30 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday. You will receive a full induction and training as well as a company laptop and phone.
