Mental Health Support Teaching Assistant – Gloucester, Gloucestershire – Immediate Start – Full Time 8:30am–3:30pm – £85–£95 per day
Based in a supportive SEN school environment in Gloucester, you will work closely and collaboratively with students, teachers, teaching assistants, and mental health professionals to provide tailored support that promotes emotional resilience, psychological and emotional well-being, and academic success. Your role will primarily involve 1:1 and small-group support for students who have been diagnosed with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and OCD, to help them develop coping mechanisms, build confidence in and out of the classroom.
Responsibilities
* Provide empathetic and regular emotional support to students experiencing a range of mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, and OCD
* Help to deliver wellbeing and mental health interventions
* Collaborate with teachers, mental health counselors, and parents to create learning plans
* Measure and monitor students’ progress
* Contribute to creating a safe school atmosphere with an optimistic attitude
Experience and Qualifications
* Previous experience working with children is vital
* Previous experience working with children with mental health issues is beneficial
* Safeguarding training is required to support the nature of the job and complex needs
* A degree is desirable and Level 3 qualifications are required
