Are you currently looking for a graduate role within education?
At Teaching Personnel, we are working closely with successful secondary schools and colleges in the Newcastle area with support staff vacancies. Many of our client schools have shown interest in Psychology graduates for these roles, as they often have an interest in behaviour supported by academic theory, but also understand the importance of well-being and additional learning needs.
These roles provide the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a school setting for future career progression into teaching or working with children and young people, such as in Education Psychology courses or clinical courses.
You will liaise with the school SENCO and support team, as well as the school’s study centre supervisor. Graduates from an English, Maths, or Science degree background, or those confident in supporting students at high school age (11–16 years old), are encouraged to apply. There will be plenty of continuous professional development opportunities, with the successful Graduate TA employed on a full-time basis from January 6th until July, if applicable.
Key aspects of the Graduate Teaching Assistant position:
* Pay will depend on experience, ranging between £1400 - £1700 per month based on hours and experience.
* Opportunity to gain more experience and support at a secondary school.
* Full-time position starting Monday, 6th January, with potential to start sooner if available.
What we look for:
* Effective communication skills with staff and students, monitoring progress and bringing an ambitious attitude.
* Ability to manage challenging behaviour and situations calmly.
* Transferable skills and a genuine interest in supporting young people with SEMH needs.
* Patience and understanding towards students’ diverse needs and circumstances.
As part of this role, you will work with various students, support small group interventions, and assist with relevant subject material. If you have experience tutoring or supporting young people, please highlight this in your application and CV, as it will be highly desirable.
Interested graduates are encouraged to apply via the link below with your latest CV for immediate consideration.
