Overview
The key tasks for the quantity surveyor role are described below. The candidate will be responsible for procurement, cost control, financial reporting and coordination with design teams and site personnel.
Responsibilities
* Procurement of sub-contractors
* Prepare tender documents
* Evaluate tender returns and provide recommendations to contracts Director/Commercial Manager
* Prepare and send sub-contract order documents to appointed contractor
* Ensure receipt of all relevant documents from sub-contractor before their works commence on site
* Sub-contractor payments
o Check/agree interim valuation, request invoice and issue along with payment certificate to commercial manager/contracts director/accounts
o Provide payment forecast to commercial manager/contracts director/accounts
o Check and confirm any variations
o Issue instruction for additional works where necessary
* Interim Valuations & Final Accounts
o Check and agree monthly valuations against contract sum
o Agreed valuation should cover actual spend on project
o Agree Final Accounts with Employer
* Design team / consultant meetings
o Attend meetings to keep up to date with design progress
o Carry out market research/cost analysis for design proposals where required
o Action any relevant points raised in meetings
* Site queries
o Assist site team/sub-contractors with technical queries
o Contact relevant consultant/designer if required
* Sub-contractor progress meetings
o Monitor contractor progress against contract programme with project manager/site team
o Assist in ensuring that the contractor is working in line with issued contract
o Assist in resolving any issues raised
* Site procurement meetings
o Action relevant issues raised in meetings
o Raise any procurement issues that the site team need to be aware of
o Assist in resolving any issues raised
