As a CNS, you'll act as a pivotal figure in our multidisciplinary team, providing specialist care and holistic support to patients throughout their cancer journey—from diagnosis to treatment and beyond.

We’re looking for a nurse with proven expertise in oncology, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering patient-centred care. You’ll have the autonomy to lead and influence change, develop educational programmes, and contribute to research and quality improvement projects.

Main duties of the job

  • Act as a key worker, providing expert guidance, holistic assessments, and personalised care plans for patients with gynaecological cancers.
  • Deliver specialist advice to patients, families, and colleagues, acting as a resource and driving improvements in care pathways.
  • Represent nursing perspectives in MDT meetings, ensuring patient needs are central to decision-making and treatment planning.
  • Provide education for patients, carers, and staff, promoting awareness of gynaecological oncology care and mentoring team members to enhance clinical expertise.
  • Contribute to audits, research, and service development projects, implementing evidence-based practices to enhance care quality and patient outcomes.

    Education

    Essential criteria

  • NMC registration and a degree in related subject.
  • Post registration qualification(s) in speciality or relevant subject (Gynaecology / Gynae-Oncology or Oncology course)
  • Advanced Communication course and Level 2 psychological skills training. (or other essential speciality courses if not expected)
  • Recognised teaching qualification or demonstratable teaching experience
  • Desirable criteria

  • MSc or MA in related speciality
  • Recognised physical assessment module at level 7
  • Leadership course
  • Quality improvement training
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Relevant and substantial post registration experience at band 6 or above to speciality
  • Experience of working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Experience of teaching and assessing others
  • Experience of audit and service development

  • Experience of leading and managing

    Essential criteria

  • In depth knowledge of speciality and use of evidence-based practice
  • Able to demonstrate advanced communication skills and manage complex situations
