Job Title: Housing Accommodation Manager

We're looking for a proactive and experienced Housing Accommodation Manager to join our Housing Services Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering high-quality housing services to make a real difference in people's lives.
You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accommodation Team, ensuring efficient allocation of temporary accommodation, effective management of resources, and excellent customer service for residents. You will also build and maintain strong relationships with housing providers, private landlords, and partner agencies, helping us to reduce homelessness and improve outcomes for our community.
What You'll Do
* Lead and manage a small team of officers delivering temporary accommodation services.
* Oversee tenant move-ins and move-outs, including removals, storage, and liaison with council tax, benefits, and other services.
* Negotiate with landlords and private sector providers to secure accommodation.
* Manage contracts and procurement of services linked to temporary housing.
* Ensure compliance with homelessness legislation, housing law, and council policy.
* Provide expert advice on accommodation services and ensure high standards of practice.
* Monitor team performance, carry out appraisals, and support staff development.
* Work in partnership with key agencies to reduce homelessness and manage service risks.
Essential Criteria includes
* Detailed knowledge of homelessness legislation, housing law, and welfare benefits.
* Leadership and management experience, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
* Experience working in a housing service, dealing with sensitive and complex issues.
* Strong negotiation skills with landlords and service providers.
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and partnership-working skills.
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads, and deliver results.
* A full driving licence
Desirable qualifications:
CIH Level 5, Degree, or Chartered Institute of Housing membership.
This role will require a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service check (known as a DBS check). All offers of employment will be made conditional upon receipt of the satisfactory DBS check.
