The Occupational Health (OH) S ervice works to “ promote good health, safety and welfare in work, collaboratively facilitating the right support, at the right time in the right way ”. The post holder will be an experienced O ccupational H ealth N urse with previous NHS experience. T hey are responsible for providing a comprehensive evidence - based occupational health exemplary service to Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAVUHB) employees and other external contracts.
Main duties of the job
They will a ssist CTMUHB/CAVUHB in managing its O ccupational H ealth responsibilities in line with legislation, compliance with national and l ocal guidance relating to fitness to work for new starters and those employed. The post holder will w ork with the Senior Management Team to develop and implement collaborative working model across CAVUHB and CTMUHB Occupational Health Services.
The post holder will exercise considerable initiative, work autonomously and will establish relationships with service users and agencies. They will be a key player in the rapidly evolving occupational health service in line with current O ccupational H ealth initiatives on multiple sites .
They will manage new/less experienced Occupational Health N urses and H ealth C are S upport W orkers and assist with ensuring CTMUHB and CAVUHB provides a safe effective, quality Occupational Health Service .
The post holder will be required to contribute with strategic work, including attendance at key meetings representing Occupational Health e.g. Health and Safety, Strategic Immunisation Group, Infection Prevention and Control Committee. They will interdepartmentally take a lead for specific projects e.g. Computer database superuser, Continual Professional Development lead, mentor for new staff .

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
* Master’s Degree or its equivalent level of knowledge and advanced postgraduate training/experience.
* Relevant Occupational Health qualification/working towards or willingness to acquire.
* Specialist knowledge of healthcare related infectious diseases.
* SCPHN(OH)-Part 3 NMC register
* NEBOSH certificate
* Knowledge of all organisations policies and procedures.
Experience
* Previous experience working in an NHS Occupational Health Department.
* Extensive complex case management of sickness absence advice to management.
* Assessment of health risks in the workplace
* Previous management/supervision of staff.
* Experience of planning an OH campaign, e.g. health surveillance, flu planning
* Extensive occupational health knowledge gained in public and private sectors
