Consultant Anaesthetist with interest in Chronic Pain. 10 sessions per week (On call). Fixed term 12‑month Locum appointment, subject to successful appraisal to progress to substantive appointment.

Core Responsibilities
* Attend outpatient pain clinic and pain theatre sessions (8.5 PAs for direct patient care)
* Participate in elective theatres and on‑call activity; 1.0 PA per week for on‑call duties including ICU, theatres, Maternity, Intensive Care.
* Offer expert clinical opinion in emergency and elective cases.
* Carry out clinical audit, contribute to service quality improvement.
* Teach clinical skills to undergraduates and postgraduates.
* Manage and lead multi‑disciplinary team and specialist unit where appropriate.
* Contribute to research and evidence‑based practice.

Qualifications and Professional Training
Essential
* Full GMC registration and licence to practice
* Entry on the Specialist Register in Anaesthesia (or CCT expected within 6 months)
* ALS / APLS provider status
* Minimum of six months training in Intensive Care Medicine at specialist registrar level or equivalent
* Advanced training in chronic pain
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to UK CCT in anaesthesia
* Ability to offer expert clinical opinion and take full independent responsibility for patient care
* Ability to advise on efficient running of specialist service, manage outpatient priorities, and apply research outcomes to practice
* Understanding of NHS environment, reforms, and ability to meet travel requirements to return to hospital within 20 min when on call
Desirable
* ATLS, MOET provider status
* Certificate of training in medical education
* Experience supervising postgraduate research
* Experience implementing electronic patient record system
* Evidence of original research published in peer‑reviewed journals (last 5 years)
