Job Description Summary:
Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Global School seeks adjunct faculty to advise project teams as part of WPI’s signature Global Projects Program. Successful candidates will receive a 2-month, destination-specific appointment, full-time onsite at a project center, which includes international and domestic locations worldwide. The position also requires part-time advising before departure (on-campus or remotely) and mandatory participation in advisor trainings.
Positions are created to build an applicant pool; hiring occurs as needed. Start dates vary by project center. Qualified applicants will be contacted; applications remain in the pool until the posting closes. Reapplication is necessary for consideration beyond that date.
Responsibilities:
Advisors work with students completing the Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP) at WPI’s project center destinations worldwide. The IQP is a distinctive, project-based component of WPI's curriculum, involving student teams working on issues connecting science, engineering, and technology to society. Advisors guide students through their project experience, lead onsite orientations, respond to emergencies, and assist with group dynamics and sponsor relationships. These demanding roles require flexibility, self-initiative, and resilience in fast-paced, challenging environments.
Qualifications:
Applicants should hold an advanced degree in a related discipline, with relevant practical experience and successful undergraduate or graduate teaching experience. Experience living or working abroad is highly desirable.
