Van Driver Yard Operative – £30,000 | Full-Time | Staines
A well-established specialist contractor based in Staines is seeking a dependable Van Driver / Yard Operative to support daily operations across London and the South East. This varied role combines driving duties with general yard responsibilities.
About the Role
This is a hands-on position suitable for someone who enjoys practical work and being part of a team. You'll be delivering materials to job sites and helping to manage stock, cleanliness, and organisation in the yard.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive a company van to deliver and collect materials from sites
* Load and unload materials safely
* Assist with general yard operations, including stock control
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard and van
* Perform routine vehicle checks and report issues
* Operate a forklift (if licensed)
* Liaise with office and site staff to coordinate deliveries
Requirements
* Full UK driving licence (clean preferred)
* Comfortable driving in and around London
* Confident with manual handling tasks
* Good communication and time management skills
* Team player with a can-do attitude
* Experience in a similar environment preferred
Desirable (but not essential)
* Forklift licence
* Familiarity with FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme)
