Clinical Nurse Specialist - North Diabetes and Endocrine Service

Fixed‑term post: 12 months.
The shift pattern for this post is Mon‑Fri 0800‑1600 hours. Salary is pro‑rata for part‑time hours.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialised diabetes management, treatment and education services to patients referred within secondary and primary care.
* Provide specialised endocrine services, including diagnostic testing and patient education.
* Act as a resource for expert advice and training for nursing staff, medical staff and other health‑care professionals.
* Contribute to strategic issues relating to diabetes care locally and nationally.
* Carry out audit and research work in relation to all aspects of diabetes care.
* Work with referrers to provide specialist advice and undertake skilled clinical interventions.
Qualifications & Requirements
* First‑level registered nurse with a minimum of 3 years post‑registration experience.
* Relevant experience working in diabetes (clinic, ward or community) and an appropriate degree‑level qualification.
* Successful completion of the agreed training pathway to develop a CNS role, where appropriate.
* Demonstrated ability to fulfil criteria outlined in the job description.
* Highly specialist knowledge across the range of diabetes treatments, procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
* Live NMC UK pin required.
