Overview
The HCA within sexual health services will work in a busy integrated sexual health environment, within a multidisciplinary team. The staffing structure supports core services at service hubs based at Wheatbridge and spokes in a variety of locations throughout Derbyshire, including the High Peak.
Responsibilities
* Provide quality care and behave professionally at all times to meet Trust and National standards when undertaking procedures such as registering, advising and supporting patients in the clinical setting to undertake self-administered asymptomatic screens in line with BASHH guidance.
* Perform follow-up tasks including coding all clinical contacts, clinical observations, and venepuncture.
* Be involved in the testing: HIV laboratory testing; point of care testing; urine and pregnancy testing; Gram staining; diagnostic microscopy and other duties.
* Assess patients’ level of understanding and experience in relation to consent to undergo clinical procedures (including HIV testing) and refer complex clients or clinical situations where appropriate to senior staff.
