We have an exciting opportunity for 3 x Seasonal Museum Assistants to join the existing Visitor Services team at Fort Nelson. Reporting to the Visitor Services Officer the successful applicant will welcome all visitors to the museum and deliver a wide range of duties including daily public engagement, operating the museum gift shop, operating the junior assault course and the crossbow range. The Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom’s national museum of arms and armour and one of the most important collections of its type in the world, housed at its headquarters and flagship museum in Leeds, its historic home at the Tower of London, and the Victorian Fort Nelson in Hampshire. Applicants will thrive on delivering consistently excellent customer service. They will be energetic, enthusiastic and will have a positive ‘can do’ attitude. As well as being a team player, applicants should be flexible and self-motivating with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Applicants must be able to demonstrate their ability to engage with groups of visitors. An interest in the Fort and National Collection of Artillery is desirable. A full induction and training plan will be provided for all aspects of the role. Hours This role will work on site at Fort Nelson from 11th May – 13th September 2026, 37.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis. Weekend, evening and bank holiday working will be required.
