As part of our continued growth, Curium Pharma UK is launching a new PET Radiopharmacy in Newcastle, designed to produce novel PET radiopharmaceuticals for clinical use. We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Radiopharmacy Technician to join our founding team and contribute to the establishment, validation, and GMP operation of this state‑of‑the‑art facility.

The successful candidate will be actively involved in developing and executing validation protocols, drafting key documentation, and supporting GMP‑compliant radiopharmaceutical production and quality control activities. Once operational, you will contribute to the sterile and aseptic manufacture, dispensing, and QC testing of PET radiotracers for clinical application—ensuring full compliance with GMP, radiation protection, and safety regulations.


What You’ll Do


Project and Commissioning Phase

* Contribute to the preparation and review of documentation for the build, installation, and qualification of the PET Radiopharmacy.
* Draft and maintain SOPs, COSHH assessments, and radiation risk documentation.
* Support validation activities for equipment, production, and quality control processes in accordance with approved protocols.


Radiopharmaceutical Production

* Manufacture PET radiopharmaceuticals using hot cells and isolator systems under GMP conditions.
* Perform aseptic dispensing operations using negative pressure isolator technology.
* Maintain environmental control through cleaning, sanitisation, and monitoring of aseptic suites and isolators.
* Ensure strict adherence to radiation protection principles (ALARA).
* Oversee packing and dispatch of radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with transport and regulatory standards.


Quality Control and Compliance

* Perform QC analysis, including radionuclide and radiochemical purity testing in accordance with the European Pharmacopoeia.
* Maintain accurate GMP documentation and electronic records in line with ALCOA+ principles.
* Record and review logs for temperature‑controlled equipment, isolators, and environmental systems.
* Support deviation management, CAPA, and root cause analysis processes.
* Participate in qualification and requalification activities, including documentation and execution of test protocols.


Operational Support and Facility Maintenance

* Conduct first‑line maintenance and troubleshooting of radiochemistry and QC equipment.
* Manage materials and stock, including goods receipt, inventory control, and waste disposal.
* Assist with environmental and radiation monitoring within the facility.


Training and Collaboration

* Share technical knowledge and assist in the training of Technicians on GMP manufacturing and QC processes.
* Collaborate closely with colleagues across Production, Quality, and Engineering to maintain operational excellence and compliance.


What You Bring

* Degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Radiopharmacy, or related field).
* 3–5 years’ professional experience in a GMP‑regulated, aseptic, or radiopharmacy environment.
* Strong understanding of GMP, COSHH, and Ionising Radiation Regulations.
* Demonstrated competence in aseptic techniques and environmental monitoring.
* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
* High level of computer literacy and familiarity with electronic documentation systems.
* Validation or commissioning experience within pharmaceutical or radiopharmaceutical settings.
* Experience with PET radiopharmaceutical manufacture or sterile product production.
