Overview
Transport Solutions Assistant is responsible for supporting the delivery of a wide range of specialised transport, including specialist home to school transport, Youth offending, CFCS, Adult Social Care and Respite short breaks. The role provides solutions for internal and external clients and supports contract management, safeguarding compliance, procurement, finance and service improvement.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of a wide range of specialised transport, including specialist home to school transport, Youth offending, CFCS, Adult Social Care and Respite short breaks, providing solutions for internal and external clients.
* Monitor contract performance, including site visits, and investigate issues reported by service users or clients.
* Ensure that National and County Council safeguarding and child protection measures are followed.
* Procurement and evaluation of best value ad-hoc transport for client departments.
* Evaluation of Direct Travel Assistance Payments (DTAP) to parents and carers.
* Review and analyse contract performance and practice against agreed specifications or service level agreements; assist in service reviews and identify opportunities for efficiency savings (including site visits across the County).
* Identify savings where ad hoc contracts may be converted to longer-term contracts to generate procurement savings.
* Ensure all service users have a certified Transport Care Plan where required, through liaison with care professionals and schools.
* Assess service development opportunities in conjunction with colleagues, clients, members of the public and other stakeholders.
* Use bespoke software systems to maintain accurate financial and client information and to create reports as required.
* Verify payments to suppliers and clients and monitor revenue returns where appropriate.
* Support Transport Officers in delivering service priorities and deputise for the Officers when required.
* Deal directly with clients and suppliers with a high level of customer care.

* Transport requests are actioned within appropriate timescales.
* All service users are treated in accordance with the Customer Care Policy.
* All contracts operate in accordance with service specifications; issues or disputes are resolved.
* All transport is provided safely, protecting and securing vulnerable users.
* Transport solutions are delivered within the allocated budget.
* Parents are offered alternatives to direct transport that meet their requirements and provide best value for the Authority.
* Contracts and services are delivered properly and opportunities for efficiency savings are identified and implemented meeting all budget requirements.
* Service efficiencies are investigated and communicated to stakeholders, delivering practical and workable solutions.
* Contract costs are managed efficiently.
