Health & Safety Manager - Contract Role
Location: Bury, Greater Manchester (BL9)
Start Date: September 2025
⏳ Contract Length: 3 months initially with potential extension
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.4 hours per day, flexibility required across all operational hours (37 hours per week)
Day Rate: £350-£400 per day
About the Role
This role is ideal for a confident and credible leader with a strong background in health and safety management across complex, multi-site environments.
You'll be responsible for leading the development and implementation of corporate health and safety policies, managing a small team of advisors, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices. The role also involves oversight of occupational health contracts, risk assessments, incident investigations, and training delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the organisation's health and safety function.
* Develop and implement robust H&S frameworks, policies, and procedures.
* Provide strategic advice and reporting to senior stakeholders.
* Oversee occupational health provision and contract performance.
* Conduct audits, investigations, and ensure RIDDOR compliance.
* Deliver training and promote a safety-first culture across the organisation.
Candidate Requirements
* NEBOSH qualified or equivalent.
* Proven experience in a similar role within public-facing services.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
* Experience managing teams and delivering training.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Additional Information
This role is based on-site in Bury, with occasional travel within the locality. Flexibility may be required to respond to service needs, including attending evening meetings.
