Our Room Leaders assist in the day‑to‑day management of the setting, whilst leading their room team to enable children to engage in a range of play and learning opportunities.
You will have passion and enthusiasm for safeguarding children and delivering high standards of care.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the staff team within the assigned room and contribute to the daily running of the nursery.
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and families.
* Lead staff on areas agreed by the Manager, e.g. EYFS delivery, SEN.
* Assist with the planning and delivery of a wide range of activities to meet children’s needs.
* Work within the EYFS and promote high standards of care for the children.
* Assume responsibility for key children and ensure their developmental needs are met, accurately recorded, and learning diaries are up to date.
* Maintain children’s safety and wellbeing at all times during attendance and on trips to external facilities.
* Take any action required to ensure the safety and welfare of children and report any concern immediately to the Nursery Manager or DSL.
* Ensure good communication with staff and parents/carers.
£33,000 salary – Full‑time 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
Essential Qualifications
* Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
* At least 2 years experience in a childcare setting.
* Experience in a leadership or management position.
* Great understanding of the EYFS.
* Passion and enthusiasm for childcare.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal.
* Good time‑keeping, organisation and reliability.
Desirable Qualifications
* Paediatric First Aid certificate.
* Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
* Sufficient understanding and use of English.
* Knowledge of Ofsted requirements and the EYFS.
* Ability to work as a team member and leader and manage and organise own workload.
* Ability to plan, provide and evaluate a wide range of play and learning opportunities that meet children’s individual needs.
* Ability to complete basic administrative tasks.
* Ability to be a reflective practitioner.
* Ability to communicate effectively with all children, staff and families.
* Ability to support and develop an inclusive environment that encourages diversity.
* Skills in Art / Craft / Games / Sport Skills.
* ICT skills.
* Experience of working with children aged under 5.
* Experience of providing play and learning opportunities for children.
* Experience of supporting children with additional needs.
* Experience of liaising with parents/carers and involving them in their child’s care.
