Salary: £351.83 per day umbrella / £309.74 PAYE Inclusive / £276.38 PAYE Exclusive

Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in Somerset for a Senior Accountant to join the team on a temporary basis. The postholder will be required to perform a range of advanced professional accounting activities, and provide financial advice and guidance, to support in delivering a comprehensive accounting and advisory service to budget holders, project managers and decision makers.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert financial advice and guidance to senior leaders and stakeholders, ensuring informed decision‑making on financial implications.
* Lead on the preparation and management of revenue and/or capital budgets, aligning financial planning with strategic objectives.
* Monitor financial performance, identifying risks and variances, and working collaboratively to implement solutions.
* Prepare statutory accounts and financial reports, including presenting to committees and governance bodies.
* Review legislative changes and evaluate the impact on financial policies, guidelines and protocols.
Candidate Criteria
* Fully qualified accountant.
* Significant experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and financial analysis within a complex organisation.
* Strong knowledge of public sector finance, legislation, and regulatory requirements.
* Proven ability to influence, communicate, and build relationships with senior stakeholders.
