This role will be responsible for leading and supporting Retail Food Safety initiatives at store level with the company owned estate. The successful applicant will ensure that Food Safety & Quality activities within Company Owned stores are effectively managed and coordinated across the business thereby ensuring that Retail Food Safety standards are best in class at all times. The role includes specific operational activities as well as long term strategic development projects.

What you’ll be Doing
1. Management of Retail Food Safety
2. Tracking ongoing Retail Food Safety Audit performance across SuperValu and Centra Branded stores
3. Supporting stores in the development and implementation of a robust food safety management system and promoting Food Safety Culture
4. Resolving audit issues & queries
5. Liaison with 3rd party auditing body on scheduling matters
6. Reporting performance against targets to Stakeholders
7. Conduct scheduled and adhoc store visits / Food Safety Audits
8. Support store in implementation of new food safety procedures or legislation changes
9. Leading and supporting projects as required through the Food Safety & Quality- Retail, Consumer & Development Team
10. Support of other team members across the Food Safety & Quality Team
Food Safety Communications
11. Providing Quarterly updates to Company Owned Store Managers on Food Safety Issues
12. Producing and Issuing Food Safety Materials / updates
13. Scheduling Regional Food Safety Workshops
14. Providing training to store colleagues on a 1-2-1 basis on Food Safety matters
Food Safety Development
15. Enhancing and improving Food Safety Training solutions
16. Effective Rollout of Retail IT Food Safety Solutions,
17. Ensuring revamps and new Food Concepts are Food Safety Risk Assessed in advance of development and rollout
18. Liaison with external partners on new concepts / developments / challenges in Retail Food Safety
19. Development of Long Term Food Safety Standards as per 3 Year FSQ Strategy
20. Liaison with MRPI and MWP on co-ordination of Food Safety Policies
Team work
21. Managing Company Owned Food Safety in co-ordination with the wider FS&Q team / retailers
22. Participation in Food Safety & Quality team sessions at a group level
What we’re looking for
23. Min 3 years in Retail Operations with specific food safety elements
24. Effective communication / influencing across all levels of business
25. Adaptive to changing environmental conditions
26. Logical, problem solving approach to issues where required
27. Presentation skills
28. People management skills
29. Degree in Food Technology / Science advantageous
What is nice to have
30. Practical knowledge of food microbiology
31. Knowledge and experience of retailer operations
A Full Clean Driving License is essential for this role.
