Band 5 Staff Nurse (General Outpatients) - Part Time 33 hours per week
**This is a fixed-term/secondment opportunity for 12 months to cover maternity leave.**
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
The post holder works and effective team member:
* Undertaking and recording a comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluating high standards of evidenced based nursing care to a diverse group of patients.
* Deliver care without direct supervision.
* Accountable for the care delivered and any omissions of care.
* Teach and supervise more junior staff, students and the non-registered nursing workforce.
* Accountable for care or any omissions of care that he/she delegates to others.
* Act as role model, delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Develops competences and practices relevant clinical skills required to deliver care to the patient/client group.
Main duties of the job
* Working as part of the multidisciplinary team focusing on the department team.
* Responsible for the efficient running of various outpatient clinics.
* Undertake nursing duties including: scrub nursing, leg dressings and IM injections.
* Recognises, responds to and appropriately manages emergency situations.
* Work autonomously in a nurse-led unit.
* Maintaining accurate patient records on EPR.
* To assist with ordering and maintaining the clinical area.

* NMC registered
Experience
* Experience working in an outpatient setting
* Experience in minor surgery (e.g. scrub nursing)

* Demonstrates sound clinical knowledge and up-to-date nursing practice with evidence of critical thinking and problem solving
* Demonstrates ability to work effectively within a team
Other
* Information technology literate
