Due to continued growth at their Wrexham operation, we are recruiting an experienced Transport Planner to join a dynamic and fast-paced transport team. This is a key role within the operation, offering the opportunity to contribute to a growing business with a strong reputation for quality, compliance and customer service.
The Role
As Transport Planner, you will be responsible for developing efficient transport plans, managing daily operations, and ensuring a high level of service delivery while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing transport plans that meet operational and customer requirements
- Planning food movements (chilled/frozen experience highly beneficial)
- Managing drivers, compliance and performance, including being TachoMaster literate
- Overseeing day-to-day logistics operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
- Liaising with internal departments to maintain smooth transport processes
- Providing excellent customer service by responding to enquiries and resolving issues promptly
- Using Excel to analyse data and produce reports that support operational improvement
- Maintaining accurate transport records and monitoring KPIs
- Leading, coaching and supporting a team of Transport Coordinators
- Ensuring full compliance with transport legislation and company policies
About You
You will be an organised, proactive professional who thrives in a busy logistics environment and enjoys taking ownership of transport operations.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience in a transport planning or logistics role (essential)
- CPC qualification (preferred but not essential)
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a team
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confident IT skills, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word
- The ability to adapt quickly, learn new systems and solve problems effectively
- A proactive, solutions-driven mindset
What's on Offer
- Salary: £35,000-£40,000 (depending on experience)
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 47.5 hours per week
