About You
You are a highly skilled Senior Frontend Engineer who thrives on turning complex ideas into elegant, performant, and intuitive user experiences. You bring a deep understanding of modern frontend engineering, a passion for driving clean, scalable, maintainable interfaces, and a strong background in delivering high‑quality web applications end‑to‑end.
You operate as a senior individual contributor, bringing clarity to ambiguity, elevating engineering standards, partnering closely with designers, backend engineers and machine‑learning specialists, and communicating technical decisions to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
You are excited by the opportunity to help define tooling, frameworks and best practices for a growing frontend function, and you value documentation, knowledge sharing, accessibility and thoughtful UI/UX.
Most importantly, you are motivated by impact and want to influence the frontend direction across products while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
About The Team
You’ll be joining a small but growing Frontend Engineering team within our Software Development and AI function. The team is cross‑functional, including frontend engineers, backend developers, machine‑learning specialists, UX designers and QA, collaborating to build intelligent, data‑driven products.
About The Role
Design, build and optimise high‑quality user interfaces across our suite of data‑driven applications, working closely with designers, backend engineers and machine‑learning teams to create seamless, performant and visually compelling experiences.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, and maintain modern, performance‑focused frontend applications across web and desktop platforms.
* Develop and optimise reusable UI component libraries to ensure consistency and efficiency across products.
* Translate UX wireframes, prototypes, and design concepts into high‑quality, accessible user interfaces.
* Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs, manage data flows, and ensure a seamless end‑to‑end experience.
* Establish and champion best practices in coding standards, architecture, documentation and frontend processes.
* Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain code quality, scalability and maintainability.
* Implement testing strategies using tools such as Jest, Cypress or Playwright to support robust, reliable releases.
* Ensure interfaces are accessible and meet WCAG standards.
* Diagnose and resolve complex UI issues, including performance bottlenecks, browser inconsistencies and rendering challenges.
* Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting new tools, frameworks and approaches to enhance developer experience and product quality.
* Work on innovative projects involving real‑time updates, visualisation of complex data structures and interactions with AI/ML features.
Success in This Role Looks Like
* High‑quality, scalable frontend applications delivered consistently, with clean architecture, reusable components and strong performance across browsers and devices.
* Improved UI/UX standards, with greater consistency, accessibility and user satisfaction across products.
* More mature frontend engineering practice, with clearer patterns, tooling, documentation and ways of working.
* Effective collaboration with designers, backend engineers and ML teams, turning complex ideas into intuitive experiences.
* Reduced bugs, faster delivery cycles and improved reliability through thoughtful testing strategies, automation and proactive technical decisions.
* Clear ownership and accountability for end‑to‑end delivery of features, ensuring quality at each stage.
* Meaningful impact on product direction, providing input on architecture, UI strategy, component libraries and future technical choices.
* Positive influence within the team, mentoring others, sharing knowledge and building a supportive, high‑performing engineering culture.
* Proactive approach to innovation, introducing modern techniques, tools or ideas that elevate the user and developer experience.
* Visible contributions to shaping the future of the frontend function, especially as the team grows into new technologies such as PWAs, desktop apps, and browser extensions.
Why Join Us?
* Help shape the future of our frontend engineering function, defining standards, tooling and ways of working as we scale.
* Work on genuinely interesting, complex challenges: real‑time data interfaces, graph visualisation, AI‑driven interactions, PWAs, desktop apps and browser extensions.
* Collaborate with talented engineers across Software, AI, Data and UX in a supportive environment that values idea sharing and rapid implementation.
* Enjoy high impact and low bureaucracy, with autonomy to own solutions end‑to‑end.
* Benefit from a modern tech stack and an engineering culture that embraces new tools, frameworks and best practices.
* Flexible working – hybrid and remote options supporting work‑life balance.
* Built‑in career progression, with the opportunity to grow into a Lead‑level position.
* Work in a mission‑driven environment, building platforms that combine Software, AI and data to solve meaningful real‑world problems.
