Acute Learning Disability and Autism Liaison Nurse
This role focuses on working with children and adults accessing acute care, providing specialist support for learning disabilities and autism.
Main duties of the job
This post has been developed to increase access and reduce health inequalities for people with learning disabilities and/or who are on the autism spectrum.
Act as a resource for the acute hospital regarding the complex health needs of people with a learning disability and/or on the autism spectrum.
Manage the interface between mainstream general hospital services, primary care services and community specialist disability services.
Support children and adults with Learning Disabilities and /or Autism as Inpatients, outpatient appointments and emergency attendances.
Develop effective and collaborative working with healthcare and multi-agency colleagues, including identifying and meeting the training needs and providing specialist and nursing advice.
Incorporate the philosophy outlined in "Valuing People", working closely with the Equality and Diversity, Inclusion lead.
Work in adherence with the Mental Capacity Act 2005, advising other staff on its correct application.

Person Specification
Education
* Nursing registration
* GCSE'S GRADE 5 OR ABOVE
* Experience working within the LD and Autism sector
Experience
* Knowledge or experience of the acute hospitals
* Training or experience within the LD and Autism sector

Salary
£32,073 to £39,043 a year pro rata.
