About the team Freeths LLP Planning and Environment Group is a truly multi-disciplinary team of 42 professionals comprising planning lawyers, environmental lawyers, advocates and planning consultants operating across all development sectors. The group is recognised for its depth of knowledge, breadth of experience and for providing clear, pragmatic and commercial advice and support in navigating the planning process – from the inception of a proposal through to delivery – in order to secure the optimal outcome for our fantastic clients. Identified in the Planning Law Survey as one of the fastest growing planning teams over two consecutive years and ranked as 10th largest in the country we wish to recruit Legal Assistants in our Leeds and Nottingham office. About the role Our Legal Assistant Programme allows you to gain grass roots experience of working in a legal environment alongside our talented lawyers. We trust our people to work flexibly in the way that works best for them, their teams and our clients. Our firm is set up to ensure everyone’s voice is heard, and mutual respect is shown by all. Legal Assistant positions are initially for 9 months. We review performance at 3 monthly intervals where we are assessing performance and attitude. At the 9-month stage we make a decision on whether to offer funding for the Solicitor Qualifying Examinations. Key Responsibilities To provide legal support to Trainees, Lawyers, and Partners, which means that you get a true picture of what a career in law could offer you in the long term. To carry out any other such reasonable tasks that may be required from time to time. This may include but is not limited to drafting and preparing legal documents, conducting legal research, supporting major projects and planning appeals, preparing document bundles, and expanding your knowledge in Planning and Environmental Law. Your skills and qualifications To have excellent academics and first-class organisation skills. To have excellent communication skills and be a real team player with a flexible and professional approach to work. Good IT skills, experience, and confidence with using Microsoft packages.
