If you love being a vehicle technician but you’re thinking “I fancy a change”, “I want more variety” or “I want to work in a team”, then we may just have exactly what you’re looking for!
You’ve probably seen some of our vehicles driving around the London Borough of Havering, transporting our fantastic customers across outer London.
Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out – and as part of our engineering team you’ll be a key part in making sure our vehicles are in tip top condition to do just that. It’s a really important role within our depot, so we’ll make sure you’re as looked after as our vehicles are!
You’ll have the responsibility of maintaining and repairing our fleet of buses, part of the near 1500 we operate across London. Our fleet consists of a mix of modern single and double deck vehicles including some new electric buses.
Don’t worry if you’ve not worked on these vehicles before (or indeed buses) – we’ll train you on everything you need to know, and you’ll be supported by a great team of fellow Electricians, Mechanics, Technicians, Storespeople, Administrators and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job.
And it’s not all garage-based work. You could find yourself out and about dealing with vehicle issues on the road, so it won’t always be the same four walls you’re looking at!
Aside from the reward of helping to deliver an incredible experience to our customers, there’s plenty more we can offer:
* Great benefits up to £29.20 per hour, company pension scheme, free financial education and affordable loans, and a range of money-saving opportunities including discounts on holidays and retail, cinema outings, dental insurance, vehicle breakdown cover and hotels and attractions.
* Free travel for you and a household member on TfL bus and rail services (this is a non-contractual benefit). Outside London, there is free travel for you and a companion on Stagecoach buses.
* UK-wide opportunities, career development and secondment opportunities to work elsewhere in our UK business.
* An employee assistance programme to support health and wellbeing through a confidential service available 24 hours a day, providing guidance on personal and work-related issues, including stress, anxiety, financial, marital, or legal matters.
* A great working environment with opportunities to make new friends and join employee networks that promote inclusivity for women, veterans, carers, multicultural and LGBTQ+ colleagues. We also collaborate with our corporate charity and community projects, and promote health, wellbeing, and family initiatives.
You don’t have to come from a bus background, but you will need experience in an engineering technician field – truck, haulage, automotive, plant, rail, farm – if it moves, it’s good experience for working on buses!
It would be desirable to have a Level 3 engineering qualification in heavy vehicles.
