Description

We are recruiting a permanent cover teacher for our English and Maths Department to ensure the best learning experiences for our students. Are you an established teacher looking for a new chapter? One that does not involve marking but allows you to showcase your adaptability and teaching skill?

We are looking for an experienced teacher with at least five years teaching experience in teaching English or/and Maths. A successful cover teacher will have experience of teaching GCSE and be adept in managing behaviours and the individual needs of learners in the classroom.

Experience is important because you will be teaching across a range of different departments. A successful candidate will also have strong organisational skills as you will be required to manage your calendar and time effectively. You will need to be a strong communicator, liaising with the many curriculum managers across the college.

There are many benefits of the role, in this cross-college position you will work with many of the college’s staff and students. As a permanent member of staff, you will have access to the same opportunities and support as any teacher in the college, including wellbeing days and CPD events.

A permanent cover teacher will typically teach more hours a week in a classroom than the subject teachers but there are fewer administrative tasks associated with the role, helping to maintain a good work life balance. This role might appeal to those experienced teachers who are looking for a new challenge, who want to experience the teaching of different disciplines and want variety in their teaching day.

Main Responsibilities and Duties

* Deliver high quality teaching in accordance with approved College standards, undertaking quality assurance in collaboration with the Head of Department, liaising closely with programme leads and curriculum managers as appropriate to deliver appropriate material to students on a wide variety of courses. This will include maintaining good order in the teaching environment, including statutory aspects such as safeguarding, accurate register keeping, equal opportunities and health and safety.
* When available, provide small group support and/or 1-1 support for students with additional needs.
* Promote and support English and Maths provision, both in class and on a one to one basis, including monitoring and addressing attendance and the movement of students to English and Maths lessons etc.
* Attend meetings, including staff meetings, parent evenings, marketing events, exam invigilation, courses and discussions, internal and external to the College as directed and reporting back as appropriate.
* Work with colleagues throughout the College to develop courses, training methods and materials, including attendance at Focus Days and other compulsory CPD events and participate in peer observation for developmental purposes, ensuring adherence to college policies and practices. This will include mentoring new Lecturers as required.
* Assist with departmental administration including the timely marking of registers, and updating of Pro-Monitor as appropriate.

Application Requirements

To ensure compliance with safeguarding guidelines, all applicants must complete the application form in full. This includes providing:

* A full employment history from the time you left full-time education, with details of any gaps in employment explained.
* Information on all relevant education and qualifications.

Please note, incomplete applications will not be considered. Your co-operation helps us maintain the highest standards of safety and care for children and young people.
