The Opportunity
The Consultancy Group is an executive search business specialising in Private Equity portfolio transformation. We work closely with Private Equity funds to support portfolio companies with Operating Partners and senior Value Creation leaders, typically former CEOs, COOs, Transformation Directors and PE Operators, who can be deployed quickly.
Role Overview
As a Research Consultant, you will play a critical role in identifying, mapping and engaging senior operator talent for Private Equity clients. You will be working on complex, time‑sensitive mandates requiring judgement, curiosity and commercial awareness.
You will work closely with Partners and Consultants, gaining exposure to Operating Partner appointments, interim leadership roles and board‑level searches across PE‑backed environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Research and map senior operator talent across Private Equity portfolio companies, corporates and advisory platforms
* Identify and profile CEOs, COOs, Transformation Directors, Operating Partners and Value Creation leaders
* Build market intelligence on PE funds, portfolio companies, sector trends and operating models
* Support live mandates from briefing through to placement, including long‑listing, screening and candidate assessment
* Conduct discreet candidate outreach and manage early‑stage engagement conversations
* Maintain high‑quality written outputs, including candidate profiles and market maps
* Work closely with Consultants to support fast‑paced search assignments
Candidate Profile
* Graduate / Early‑Career Profile
* Comfortable engaging with senior executives and operators, including CEOs, COOs and Operating Partners
* Structured and detail‑oriented, with a high standard of accuracy and discretion
* Credible written communicator, able to produce clear, concise candidate summaries and market insights
* Commercially minded, proactive and motivated
