Job Title: Payroll Officer
Hours and Salary: 37.5 hours a week, 52 weeks a year. Salary range: £29,707 - £32,602 per annum, plus a £1,000 retention bonus. 25 days holiday plus statutory public holidays paid annually.
About the Role: We seek applicants with previous payroll experience or who have completed relevant higher education courses in business and payroll. The role involves supporting staff working with vulnerable children and young people, requiring excellent communication skills, proficiency with payroll and HR MIS, and confidence in Excel to ensure accurate salary payments. Empathy and patience are essential for guiding staff relying on your knowledge.
Responsibilities: Jointly overseeing in-house payroll administration for approximately 250 staff, including:
* HR designated responsibilities
* Direct staff communication
* Monthly payroll input and reconciliation procedures
Additional training and development opportunities include:
* Payroll reporting and BACS payments
* Pensions administration
* Data analytics and exception reporting

About Us: We are a registered charitable trust comprising a special needs school, college, children’s home, and supported living. Our students are aged 5-19 with moderate to severe disabilities. Work Environment: Office-based, during term time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm with a half-hour unpaid break. Some flexibility during school holidays. Own transport is desirable due to the rural location, though accessible by bus.
