Offer description

Overview

AtkinsRéalis are looking to recruit an innovative and experienced Project or Senior Architect to join our growing Cardiff team, as part of the wider Midlands, South-West and Wales Architectural Practice.

AtkinsRéalis is more than just engineering – we are a Stirling Prize‑winning, top 10 AJ100 practice built on a culture of open collaboration that creates and delivers excellence. With a global depth of talent and reach, we passionately believe that good design can positively transform people’s lives and strive to deliver the very best for our clients.

As a fully integrated multidisciplinary practice you will work alongside architectural, engineering and specialist consultants across a myriad of fields. Within the Midlands, South‑West and Wales we have just under 500 individuals involved in the design and creation of the built environment in Education, Commercial, Energy, Defence and Residential sectors.

Your role

AtkinsRéalis offers candidates the opportunity to be part of exciting projects working with a network of creative individuals who share a goal of design excellence. The role is ideal for those looking to take ownership of projects in a leading role, and our staff are challenged towards professional growth and development within a multi‑discipline environment.

About You

The ideal candidate will be an ARB Part 3 qualified architect with demonstrable post‑qualification experience and a good understanding of UK statutory requirements (Building Regulations, Planning etc). Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following requirements:

* Develop designs firmly rooted in a strong narrative that enhance the built environment and our reputation.
* Be a creative designer with an understanding of technical delivery.
* Contribute to design and culture within the studio and wider regional team.
* Consistently lead the successful delivery of projects with varying complexity and sizes – from small to large scale.
* Work proactively within a multi‑disciplinary environment to lead the design of major opportunities.
* Understand the design process and RIBA Plan of Work, able to deliver a project from concept to completion.
* Produce, analyse and advise on material selection, specification and detailed design solutions in relation to performance and production criteria.
* Proficiently use Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, NBS Specification, and advanced collaboration software such as Navisworks. Must manage BIM models, model checking, clash and interface management.
* Practical working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or a comparable package.
* Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, organisation, efficient time management, attention to detail, independent work, and the ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines. Show a self‑motivated, flexible, positive and team‑playing attitude.

We recognise that many well‑qualified individuals wish to further their career in architecture but cannot commit to full‑time employment. We support flexible working arrangements and are eager to discuss how we can accommodate individual requirements.

Rewards & Benefits

Enjoy competitive salaries, employee rewards, and a brilliant range of benefits you can tailor to suit your health, wellbeing, financial and lifestyle choices. Take advantage of a myriad of opportunities for training and professional development, a hybrid working culture, and flexible holiday allowances to balance a great job with a fulfilling personal life.

Security Clearance

This role may require security clearance; offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by the United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require proof of UK residency for five years or longer. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. Please do not include any current or previously held security clearance details in your application or CV.
