Overview
Year 2 and 3: Your Learning Takes Flight at Broughton! Building on your foundational knowledge, you'll join our world-class team at the Airbus Broughton site in North Wales. You'll apply your skills directly to live aircraft projects and assist in manufacturing the wings for our Single Aisle and Wide body families, rotating through various equipping wing production areas to gain diverse experience.
Responsibilities
* Professionally install complex aircraft systems, including hydraulic lines, electrical wiring harnesses, fuel pipes, and control cables. Work to engineer drawings to ensure components like valves, sensors, actuators, and electronic units are precisely fitted and secured.
* Perform comprehensive functional tests (e.g., hydraulic/fuel pressure tests, electrical continuity/resistance checks) to verify system integrity and performance. Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions, ensuring installations comply with aerospace safety standards, technical specifications, and maintain detailed records of work.
* Assist in the 36-month apprenticeship to become a skilled aircraft fitter, specialising in the installation of electrics, hydraulics and fuel systems for wing production on Airbus aircraft.
Qualifications & Learning
* Progress to Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma (Aeronautical Engineering) and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering BTEC L3 Certificate.
* NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations; City and Guilds 2675 Level 2 in Aircraft Engineering; Level 2 Essential Skills.
* Grade C/4 in Maths, Grade C/4 in English, and Grade CC/44 in Double Award Science or Grade C/4 in Physics. Plus 2 other GCSEs at Grade C/4 or higher, or equivalent.
* Evidence of required grades and completion of pre-employment checks and online forms as part of the offer process.
