KCR Solutions are delighted to be working with this highly successful company on the outskirts of Durham, in their recruitment of a qualifed Accountant to work on an interim period as their Head of Finance. Your duties will be as follows: Managing and developing the finance team, ensuring stronger processes and preparing for the implementation of a new finance management system Leading, mentoring and supporting the finance team on site to improve performance and accountability Assessing team structure, skills, and workload to ensure effective allocation of responsibilities Introducing regular review processes, individual development plans, and clear procedural guidance Working with the finance consultant to align team development with wider business objectives Responsible for process improvement and documentation Reviewing and documenting all key finance procedures, including billing, purchase ledger, WIP, payroll data, and month-end routines Establishing clear timetables, ownership, and controls for each process Strengthening internal controls and ensuring compliance with accounts rules and statutory obligations Leading the finance input into the configuration and preparation of the new finance management system Collaborating with the finance consultant on design, data integrity, process alignment and testing Developing and implementing finance team training to ensure smooth adoption of system Overseeing the timely production of accurate monthly management accounts with supporting analysis Managing cash flow and working capital, ensuring robust financial discipline Supporting the finance consultant with analysis and presentation of financial results to the management team Providing financial insight to the management team to support informed decision-making Identifying efficiency and automation opportunities across finance and related business processes You will be a qualified Accountant and will have worked in a similar role previously. You will have a strong systems background and will ideally have experience of system implementation This is a hands-on role, focused on delivering operational improvements, building team capability, documenting procedures, and ensuring the finance function is well positioned for long-term success.
