Palliative care is about providing comfort, dignity, and support to those facing serious illnesses. As a Clerical Officer, you will be at the heart of ensuring the smooth operation of our Specialist Palliative Care services. Your work will help ensure that patients and families receive the care they need when they need it most. Responsibilities
1. Managing patient records with precision and confidentiality
2. Providing proactive and responsive operational support to the team
3. Supporting families and patients by providing clear, compassionate communication
4. Assisting in the organisation of key meetings, ensuring the service runs efficiently
5. Handling queries and providing administrative support to the specialist care team
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people, and as such, this role is subject to background checks, including a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Minimum Requirements
* GCSE passes in English and Maths Grade 4-9 (or equivalent), ECDL or equivalent experience in an office/referral hub environment
* Proven ability to work on own initiative without close supervision, whilst working as part of an integrated team
* IT skills including experience in the use of Microsoft Excel
Desirable Criteria
* Previous experience of EMIS and other database systems
* Ability to rearrange workload/prioritise to meet service needs
* High standards of accuracy
* Knowledge of hospital and/or community processes
* Confidence to deal with internal departments and external agencies
* Access to own transport for work purposes
