As the Materials Controller you will be responsible for the placement and scheduling of purchase orders for a range of materials, including chemicals, facing, packaging and consumable items used in our manufacturing process at our 4 UK sites and to maintain the correct inventory levels of these materials.
Responsibilities of our Materials Controller
* Review MRP and react to changes in raw material requirements to ensure continuity of supply and correct levels of inventory are maintained.
* Identify raw material requirements, raise purchase orders in SAP and distribute to suppliers.
* Ensure that PO data and pricing is correct, referring to price lists issued by the business.
* Liaise with suppliers and hauliers on a daily basis, expedite purchase orders, ensuring required delivery times are met.
* Liaise with Freight forwarders with regards to the arrival and custom clearance of imported raw materials from overseas.
* Record and maintain shipping schedule to ensure full visibility of shipping status is available at all times. Schedule deliveries as required, keeping additional storage/demurrage costs to a minimum.
* Create and maintain inbound delivery monitor in SAP to provide Logistics with full visibility of incoming goods and enable accurate receipting in of materials.
* Liaise with internal departments, Planning, Finance, Production and Logistics and provide support and communication to aid the smooth running of the business.
* Support the business in the event of supplier service/quality issues.
* Review and resolve supplier invoices discrepancies.
* Attend both internal and external supplier meetings if required.
What we are looking for in our Materials Controller:
You will have:
* A good level of education
* Experience within a similar role
* Ability to work towards tight deadlines
* Good computer skills, especially within Microsoft Office
* Excellent organisational skills
* Professional telephone manner
Whilst not essential, the following would be of benefit:
* Experience in the use of SAP
