Corney and Barrow Newmarket is a vibrant, customer focused wine shop offering a broad collection of fine wines. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for all wine lovers.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented individual to join our small, but passionate team. The Shop Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the wine shop and will also offer sales support to the wider C&B East Anglia team.
This will involve sharing retail stock & sales duties with the Newmarket shop manager (working on a rota basis), face to face sales at evening external events and supporting Corney & Barrow operations at Tattersalls Thoroughbred Horse sales, during pre-sale and sale dates.
This position is perfect for a motivated & flexible individual with an active interest in pursuing a career in the wine trade, demonstrating an appetite for customers interaction and relationship building.
Main Responsibilities:
Sales & Shop:
· Fulfilment of retail sales duties, in collaboration with the shop team, to achieve pre-agreed sales targets & maintain the highest standards of customer service.
· Assisting the wider team & operations at Tattersalls as required.
· Administrative support such as processing orders, stocktaking & warehouse transfers into the shop.
· Manual handling & cellaring of deliveries in, as well as preparing deliveries outbound.
· Maintaining the shop floor and seasonal displays and ensuring stock is correctly priced.
· Event organisation & relevant marketing support.
· Driving footfall through the creation of eye-catching displays and sales initiatives.
· Provide excellent customer service, offering wine recommendations based on customer preferences and through a growing knowledge of our range.
· Process sales transactions efficiently and accurately, handling various payment methods.
· Address customer inquiries and provide information on wines, promotions, and upcoming events.
Essential Requirements:
· Excellent written & verbal communication with a focus on customer service
· A good wine knowledge, and a desire to learn more
· Marketing and social media awareness
· Experience of stock control and inventory management
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and point of sales systems
· Strong organisational skills and the ability the ability to multitask
· Flexible, hardworking, and self-motivated
· Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Requirements:
· Experience of running events and private functions
· WSET level 2
· First Aid trained
· Experience with Microsoft AX
Hours of work:
Tue-Wed: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Thu-Sat: 9:00am - 5:30pm
