Key Responsibilities
Pupil Support
1. Support individual pupils or small groups with a range of additional learning needs, which may include ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health needs, or complex learning difficulties
2. Assist pupils with their learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
3. Support pupils with personal care, mobility, and medical needs where required, in line with care plans and training
4. Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social interaction
5. Encourage independence, confidence, and self-esteem
Classroom Support
6. Assist the teacher in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials
7. Support the delivery of tailored learning programmes and interventions
8. Help create a structured, calm, and inclusive learning environment
9. Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
Behaviour and Wellbeing
10. Implement behaviour support strategies consistently
11. Support pupils during unstructured times such as break, lunch, and transitions
12. Recognise and respond appropriately to pupils’ emotional and sensory needs
Person Specification
Essential
13. Experience of working with children or young people (ideally in an SEN/ALN setting)
14. A caring, patient, and flexible approach
15. Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
16. Good communication and teamwork skill
