Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join our 0-19 universal children's team. You will be part of the multi skilled team supporting both Health visitors and School Nurses. You will have the opportunity to learn new skills and increase your knowledge and skill base. Working as part of a team, you will be expected to prioritise your own workload, and be part of delivering quality health care and health promotion / advice to babies, children, young people and families in Redbridge

Main duties of the job

You will be working alongside HV and SN to deliver high quality care and support to families within Redbridge. This will include -

undertaking age appropriate health reviews in CNN led clinics

supporting and leading on CNN led healthy child clinics

assisting with the New Entry Medicals and National Child Measurement programme in schools

You will need –

to be able to recognise safeguarding concerns, work with families to help improve health outcomes. and escalate them to managers where appropriate

excellent communication skills both written and verbal

to be able to work autonomously whilst still remaining part of the team

to be able to focus and plan your own work, fitting in with the team allocation

Working for our organisation

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High-Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941) pro rata for part time staff.

Certificates of Sponsorship

This position will not be supported for visa sponsorship, as it does not meet the minimum requirements. All applicants are expected to have valid right to work document to work in the UK when applying for this position.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·The post holder will have the NNEB, CACHE or equivalent qualification and robust child development knowledge. They will have experience working with children and famalies

The post holder will support their peers and team leader and be an effective team member whilst working on their own initiative. They will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively support and liaise with other health and social care professionals and agencies.

·The post holder will support families by signposting children/YP, families/carers to available resources within the borough for additional support and information.

·The post holder will be an advocate for children and families within the service.

·The post holder will establish and maintain effective communication with children, young people, parents and carers, colleagues, multidisciplinary team, and Local Authority to achieve a positive health status for the child and family.

Skills

* Holds the NNEB, CACHE or equivalent qualification and robust child development knowledge.
