Head of Machining
Job Description
* Oversee day-to-day operations of a designated machining area (3/4/5-axis CNC).
* Ensure achievement of delivery, quality, safety, and cost KPIs (SQDCP).
* Manage departmental budgets – labour, materials, overheads, and capital investment.
* Lead and develop a skilled production team including supervisors and machinists.
* Drive a continuous improvement culture using Lean Manufacturing tools (5S, standard work, SMED, etc).
* Implement and maintain compliance with AS9100, HSE legislation, and customer requirements.
* Support NPI activity and engineering changes with minimal disruption.
* Act as the key point of contact for internal stakeholders, customers, and auditors.

Essential Skills/ Experience
* Proven background as an Operations / Production Manager within aerospace or high-precision CNC machining.
* Strong understanding of multi-axis CNC machining processes and close-tolerance parts.
* Experience managing cross-functional teams and delivering on operational KPIs.
* Confident decision-maker with excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Knowledge of AS9100 standards and aerospace quality systems.
* Hands-on experience with Lean tools and CI implementation.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Degree / HNC / HND in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
* Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher).
* IOSH / NEBOSH certification.
