Corporate Health & Safety Advisor - Belfast
Location: Housing Centre, Belfast (with travel across Northern Ireland)
Salary: £ per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Staffline is recruiting on behalf of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive for a Corporate Health & Safety Advisor to join their Corporate Services - Health & Safety team.
You will play a central role in promoting a strong health & safety culture, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting staff and management through expert advice, inspections, and training.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and review Health & Safety policies and procedures
2. Conduct workplace inspections and audits, producing reports and action plans
3. Deliver and support health & safety training programmes
4. Provide expert advice on legislation, compliance, and best practice
5. Support risk assessments across a range of work activities ( COSHH, manual handling, DSE)
6. Investigate incidents, including RIDDOR reporting and liaison with HSENI
7. Monitor performance data and contribute to reports and KPIs
8. Produce guidance materials, bulletins, and safety communications
9. Support audits, business cases, and tender processes
10. Engage with internal teams, trade unions, and external stakeholders
11. Represent the Health & Safety function at meetings and committees
Candidate Requirements
Essential Criteria:
12. Degree (Level 6 or higher) in Occupational Health & Safety
(or currently working towards completion within 12 months)
13. Minimum 3 years' experience in a Health & Safety Advisor/Officer role
14. Membership of IOSH (or working towards Chartered status - CMIOSH)
15. Demonstrable experience in:Developing H&S documentation (risk assessments, policies, procedures)Incident reporting and investigation (including RIDDOR)Conducting inspections and audits with action planningDesigning and delivering H&S training
16. Strong organisational, communication, and influencing skills
17. Full driving licence or access to transport
Desirable:
18. Experience working within a large, multi-site organisation
