Harris Academy Riverside is a popular non-selective and highly oversubscribed academy, part of the Harris Federation, established in 2017 as part of the regeneration of the Purfleet on Thames area. We serve our local community of Purfleet on Thames and West Thurrock, with around 900 students in the secondary academy and approximately 200 in the sixth form.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring Teacher of Art and Design to join our team. This role offers an opportunity to grow, inspire, and develop within a supportive environment.
MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The role involves:
* Implementing and delivering a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum; supporting a designated curriculum area.
* Monitoring and supporting student progress and development as a teacher and form tutor.
* Facilitating a learning experience that helps students reach their potential.
* Contributing to raising standards of student attainment.
* Supporting the academy’s responsibilities for personal and academic growth.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Operational and strategic planning, curriculum planning, staff development, quality assurance, management of information, communication with stakeholders, pastoral duties, and delivering high-quality teaching.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The successful candidate will:
* Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
* Have successful secondary teaching experience, preferably including multi-ethnic urban schools and 11-18 settings.
* Understand effective teaching and learning theories and practices.
* Value high expectations, equality, and the role of a tutor.
* Be familiar with KS3 and KS4 National Curriculum requirements, lesson planning, resource development, and assessment.
* Work well in a team and build positive relationships with staff.
* Possess good ICT skills, including innovative use of interactive whiteboards.
* Create a motivating, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
* Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies.
* Have strong written and spoken communication skills.
* Manage workload effectively and motivate students to raise aspirations.
