About the opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
Amentum are currently recruiting a CDM Adviser who will be required to support the Client Principal Designer (PD) Duty Holder on a major design and construction project, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, and providing leadership on the deployment of the CDM2015 Principal Designer duties. Key responsibilities will be:
1. Co-ordinate the development and maintenance of the Project Health & Safety File. Interface with stakeholders to ensure relevant information is obtained and included
2. Assist with development of the Construction Phase Plan, ensuring inclusion of relevant pre-construction information
3. Manage and chair relevant PD communication and co-ordination meetings and workshops
4. Set up and manage suitable communication channels and mechanisms for PD related information
5. Liaise with the client, other CDM duty holders and other stakeholders as appropriate, to ensure that all risks are effectively managed. Ensure design is carried out in line with the principles of prevention, ensuring residual significant risks are clearly communicated to stakeholders. Ensure constructability, usability and maintainability has been properly addressed in design
6. Liaise with the client, other CDM duty holders and other stakeholders as appropriate, to share any information relevant to the planning, management, monitoring and coordination of the work
7. Liaise with the Client to ensure that they are aware of their duties under CDM2015, and support the client as needed
8. Review and appraise, when required, risk assessments, method statements and related safety control documentation
9. Ensure CDM/PD related competency checks have been carried out on the relevant project and supply chain stakeholders and ensure competency status is managed
10. Develop, implement, and maintain the Amentum Project Technical Assurance Function Principal Designer Management & Oversight Manual
11. Ensure ongoing adherence to the processes and provide guidance on interpretation where appropriate
Here's What You'll Need:
Qualifications
12. Relevant engineering degree is preferred, but relevant H&S qualifications considered
13. NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent
14. Previous demonstrable experience in CDM and/or Principal Designer roles (as the appointed duty holder or in a support capacity)
15. Proven experience of working in a highly regulated industry; experience of working in the Defence or Nuclear Sectors an advantage
16. Trained and/or qualified in HSE auditing with relevant auditing experience
17. Construction site experience preferred
18. Experience of HSE management at the design stage and of supply chain activities
