Job Title: Senior Clinical Fellow / Junior Clinical Fellow / FY3
Start Date: 5th August 2026
Contract Type: Fixed term
Duration: 6 months
The post is appointed on a fixed‑term basis for structured training and supervised clinical development. The overarching goal is to provide defined educational opportunities, supervised clinical practice, and experience aligned to the specialty training curriculum.
Main Responsibilities
You will work with the Supportive and Palliative Care team at Southampton General Hospital and provide specialist palliative and end‑of‑life care to patients under the care of the Palliative and Supportive Care Team.
* Attend and contribute to daily handover and team discussions.
* Review patients referred to the team across the hospital.
* Initially conduct reviews with another team member; eventually conduct independent reviews of new and follow‑up patients.
Qualifications, Training & Experience
Essential Criteria
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* GMC registration with a licence to practise.
* Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement.
* At least two years postgraduate training (or equivalent on a part‑time basis).
Desirable Criteria
* MRCP (UK) full diploma or equivalent (MCEM, MRCGP, MRCS, FRCA, FRCS).
* Diploma in Palliative Medicine.
* Higher qualification in medical education.
* Four years postgraduate training with at least two years in a relevant specialty.
* Previous experience of Oncology or Palliative Medicine.
* Experience of audit.
* Teaching experience.
