Job overview
The post holder will work closely with colleagues to ensure services run smoothly and efficiently. The post holder is the cellular Pathology programme co-ordinator for Histopathologists in Cellular Pathology. Assisting the office manager, General manager and consultant Histopathologist in conjunction with other full time programme assistants. Provide support to 9 Consultants and Specialist registrars and FY2 doctors in Cellular Pathology. Using a variety of complex systems and working on multi high priority tasks for the seamless running and co-ordination of the department.
Main duties of the job
* Code reports correctly to ensure cancers meet MDT’s.
* Use a wide range of software tools for both office productivity and Trust systems.
* Completion of ECRIC / COSD / Cancer registry on a monthly basis to support national dataset submissions
* Booking specimens onto ICE
* Support to tissue compliance for Post mortem cases.
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Trust policies.
* Participate in team meetings and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You are expected to act independently and take responsibility for your own workload, including scheduling tasks and working to tight deadlines. This requires strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
A key part of the role involves audio typing of complex Histopathology reports and Postmortems, as well as audio and copy typing referral letters for second opinions. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential in these tasks.
You will also collate reports, letters, and notes for MDT meetings and ensure reports are coded correctly so that cancers meet MDT requirements. Additionally, you will supervise new staff during their training, providing guidance and support.
The position requires proficiency in a wide range of software tools, including office productivity applications and Trust systems. Responsibilities include booking specimens onto ICE, completing ECRIC, COSD, and Cancer Registry submissions on a monthly basis to support national dataset requirements, and providing support for tissue compliance in Postmortem cases.
