Job title: Paediatric Occupational Therapist (Band 6)

Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our team. In this role, you will work as an autonomous practitioner across a range of settings, delivering high-quality occupational therapy to children and young people with disabilities. You will manage a specialist caseload, support multidisciplinary assessments, and provide expert advice to colleagues and families.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people, working collaboratively with a dedicated multi-disciplinary team. You will also play an active role in supervising students and support workers, helping to develop the next generation of practitioners
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention for children and young people with complex physical, learning, and social needs.
* Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and multidisciplinary team (MDT) assessments/reviews.
* Deliver specialist advice and recommendations to professionals, schools, and caregivers.
* Design, implement and evaluate treatment programmes in line with professional and service standards.
* Supervise students on clinical placement and support/junior staff.
* Participate in clinical audits and service improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
* Diploma/BSc/Graduate Diploma/MSc in Occupational Therapy.
* HCPC registration.
* Evidence of CPD and specialist short courses relevant to paediatric practice.
Skills & Experience
* Clinical assessment and intervention experience as an Occupational Therapist.
* Knowledge of child development, neuro-development, and childhood occupations.
* Experience working with children/young people with physical and developmental disabilities.
* Skilled in assessment, treatment planning, and report writing.
* Familiarity with both standardised and non-standardised assessments.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey sensitive information using empathy and reassurance.
* Ability to train and up skill school staff and caregivers.
* Experience supervising students and/or junior staff.
